What Is the Dartmouth Precollege Online Program?

The Dartmouth Precollege Online Program gives high school students the unique opportunity to dive into cutting-edge academic subjects before stepping onto a college campus. This learning experience does not require letters of recommendation or high school transcripts to apply—the easy application process simply asks for basic information and a brief personal statement explaining why you wish to take the program.

Each individual course features interactive multimedia lessons designed by Dartmouth instructors and industry experts, allowing you to explore college majors and subjects on a flexible schedule from anywhere in the world. Depending on the time of year, you can choose from multi-length cohorts that fit your availability: a one-week intensive option, a two-week session, or a four-week session. 

Regardless of the course you choose, every session contains the exact same program content, instruction, and mentor support. Upon successfully completing all assignments and your Final Capstone Project, you will receive an official Certificate of Completion from Dartmouth—a meaningful milestone to highlight your driving curiosity to university admissions.

You can watch lessons at any time and work through assignments at your own pace, entirely online and on your own terms—no matter your time zone or how busy your schedule is.

The Dartmouth Precollege Online Program operates 100% remotely and asynchronously, with multi-length course cohorts available throughout the entire year. Conversely, on-campus summer programs are entirely separate physical residential or commuter experiences held exclusively on campus during the summer months.


The program is open to students ages 13 and older. You can start as early as middle school or continue through your senior year of high school.


Yes. Need-based scholarships are available for students who demonstrate high potential and an inability to pay full tuition. You can apply for a scholarship during or after the application process.
